Dying For God's Glory (John 11:1-16)

I remember, quite a number of years ago, I had a

really bad ankle sprain that put me out of commission for a while.

I emailed friends and family to ask for prayer, since I was going

to have to be away from work. Most people responded with very

encouraging words and verses and said they would lift me up in

prayer. One friend, though, responded much differently. His

response was one short sentence: "What is God trying to teach you

through this?" I thought, "What do you mean 'What is He trying to

teach me?!' Wear better tennis shoes while playing tennis?!" As we

corresponded back and forth, I realized he wanted me to see that

all of life is spiritual. Not only that, but also that all of life

is used by God to teach us lessons and grow us in faith in our

daily walk with Him. As we approach this section of Scripture on

Sunday, I think we will be able to see clearly what it means to

give glory, and even thankfulness, to God in all situations - no

matter what the outcome. In Christ, Nick
