Like many people, I've enjoyed watching snip-its of
the Olympics these past few weeks. During the Olympics, a lot of
people take interests in obscure sports -- events that, under
normal circumstance, would never make prime-time TV. One of those
events is Team Rowing. As I was cheering madly for the American
women's team, I noticed that there was one person in the boat who
didn't row. She sat at the back of the boat, faced her team, and
screamed at them. The official rowing term for this person is a
"Coxswain." Her job is to keep the team together. She sets the pace
of the boat. She adjusts their rowing technique. She instructs
individual rowers. She directs the way they perform. She brings out
the best in them. As a result, the team does well. Did you know,
that as a follower of Jesus Christ, you have a coxswain in your
life? There is someone who speaks instructions into your life.
According to Titus 2:11-15, the coxswain of our lives is the
gospel. The good news of Jesus actually teaches us how to live. The
gospel is continually changing us. The gospel brings out God's
beauty in us. Listen to continue our discussion about the beautiful
gospel. We will see how the gospel directly impacts every area of
our lives.
