Much of life seems to be marked by intense busyness
and times of trial. While experiencing both, I have found it
difficult to see the big picture - to remember that, as a follower
of Jesus, I'm part of something so big, so beautiful, and so
unique. When reading God's word, we can trace this unique calling
that began with the nation of Israel. In this series about Saul, we
get to see how a normal guy (just like you and me) was plunged into
a position of leadership to help Israel fulfill its calling to be a
light to all nations. In the midst of extreme difficulty, however,
Saul lost sight of his unique calling in God's kingdom. When that
happened, he abandoned God's ways and exchanged them for his own.
In other words, he missed the forest for the trees. How often do we
miss the forest for the trees as we go through our busy and
challenging lives? This week, we will explore God's unique calling
for us and how keeping our focus on the uniqueness of our calling
can help us avoid the regrets of Saul. And, how this focus can
empower us to project God's love into this world.
