The Root of Laziness

If your life is anything like mine, you are

incredibly busy. Because of the hectic life I have, I love

vacations. In fact, in just a few weeks, we'll be heading to

Alaska. But, even on vacation, I find it difficult to relax. I

mean, I've read Proverbs. The Bible doesn't speak very highly of

people who are lazy. I should get busy - even on vacation. But, is

that the answer to laziness? Our instinct is: if laziness is bad,

the cure is to work harder. Then, we find ourselves unable to rest

(as with me on vacation). Usually, this leaves me out looking for

something to do. Sitting on a beach is not my idea of a vacation.

But then I start to feel bad that I cannot rest, because the Bible

has a lot to say about that as well. I find myself feeling guilty

that I am not resting. So, if working harder isn't the cure for

laziness, what is? Sorry, you'll have to put down the firecrackers

and come on Sunday to find out. I can't wait to open up God's word

with you then!
