While We Wait

It's hard to wait for something exciting. One of my

children had been saving his money for a tablet. Two weeks before

Christmas, he found he had saved enough to buy it. The problem was,

he had already organized several family members to go together and

buy the tablet. It was sitting in my closet. My son had no idea. He

kept asking me: "Dad, can we go buy it?" I kept saying: "Do you

trust me? If you do, you'll wait." The waiting nearly killed him.

Everyday, he would probe me for more information. He couldn't stand

it. But, I kept saying to him: "Trust me. Waiting is a good thing."

For many of us, we feel like God's given us a promise. He has

promised to involve us in the most exciting work in the world -

Kingdom work! But, sometimes, we have to wait for God to show us

the full expression of that Kingdom work in our lives. And, if you

are like me, waiting is hard. The disciples found themselves in the

same place. Jesus had told them to wait in Jerusalem - the Holy

Spirit would be coming. I think waiting was hard. But, in Acts 1,

we learn something important about waiting. We learn how to wait on

the Lord for His timing in using us for His Kingdom

work.
